no you have to pay the price on the bottle

He is violating the manufacturer’s/distributor’s instructions. It’s not a crime, but if the distributor finds out, they can cancel their contract with the store.

3

No they can’t it false advertisement. You pay the price on the bottle.

4

no they broke the law,, 85p was what it would cost if part of a multipack i.e. if it cost £1.70 for a multipack of 2 it would cost 85p,, but too sell it separatley is illegal

I am tight and would have refused pay £l.50.

The shopkeeper does not have to sell you anything. The contract is formed at the checkout so, if you don’t agree a price, you don’t buy. What you describe is not a contract issue but a consumer law issue. There are regulations covering misleading price indications, such as labelling at one price and selling at another …. but I’d be bluffing if I tried to pretend I remember it all. You can report a trader to the Trading Standards Department for misleading price indications.

The cola manufacturer would not be happy that the retailer had split a multi-pack and could, if it so chose, restrict his supply though the chances are, if it was a small shop, the owner bought his supplies though a third party cash & carry so the manufacturer has no direct come-back.

The options appear to be: pay the higher price; negotiate a lower price; report the shop or shop somewhere else.

no.you can ask for a refund of the difference or tell him you’ll report to the local trading standards office!

haha - they can charge what they want - but it is your choice not to buy.

yea id ***** him back by phoning up Coca-Cola distributor and he get done over and you may even get a voucher or two ;)
