How much can I sell live minnows to a bait shop for?

Well, I live in a very fishing related town, and have a few minnow pots. When I put them over, I can catch around 100 minnows a day and a few small fish and crayfish in each pot. So, I was wondering how much I could sell them to a bait shop for?

Usually an area has a larger distributor that delivers bait to shops and stores. You can’t expect to get more than they do. You need to find out how much they charge. Call them and pretend to be a store owner and ask about their prices. Some places have restrictions on selling live bait due to spreading diseases. It may require a comercial license to do it legally. Try getting to know and talking to the shop owners to see if you can make a deal. Good luck.

about a third of the retail price.
but to be legal, you do need a bait license. your regular fishing license, while fine for gathering your own bait, is not sufficient for commercial purposes. both you and the retailer could get in deep doo-doo.

well when me and my dad go fishing and the people sell minnows by little baskets.. for an example one little basket of minnows is about 4$…..every time we buy 3 baskets of minnows .. itz about 13$….and i think about 1 little basket of minnows have about 15 minnows in them =)

I agree with most of the posting - you need a license to sell either one of them - although they might buy the crayfish from you but not for much.
When I was in high school years ago I used to sell night crawlers to a bait shop and a distributor. At five cents each - I know you can get more now, but it’s easier to stay under the radar (not to need a license) you just have to be good at night crawler picking.
We also used to sell them out of my parents house starting freshman year until I graduated - my parents told me that guys keps stopping buy years after I went into the navy!!!
Best time to get night crawlers is after or during a good rain…
