Yes and YES.
It does indeed sound like you are getting the royal shaft, however, a repossession voluntary or otherwise will kill your credit for sometime. I had a car catch fire from an accident and I made the mistake of using the “one beneficiary” policy to pay for the remainder of the loan. I went onto my credit as a “voluntary” repossession and made it almost impossible to get a car loan. Keep complaining to each of the higher up as they come and call the company in Japan if you have to. I would think that the company will eventually do the right thing.

Does your state have a lemon law? Is the loan through Suzuki finance?
Do not default on the loan. It will cost you more in the long run with higher rates, or impact your ability to get a job and raise your car insurance rates, etc.
I think you need to contact an attorney. What happens is that when you call you have you vs cust service rep who can do nothing except read what is on the screen.
When an attorney calls, they talk to another attorney who may not want to waste time and may have the authority make a deal. They say you owe X you say you will only pay 1/2 X, maybe you work it out.
At least the attorney can cite the state lemon laws and get them to list the account as in dispute while being resolved.

There’s no distinction between a voluntary or involuntary reposession on your credit report. A repo is a repo, and it will destroy your credit for several years. Use the legal system to force Suzuki to perform under your states lemon law if it applies.
