What do i do when lease agreement is coming to end in Indiana?

I am new to the rental game. I am approaching the end of the year lease agreement that my renter and myself have. If i no longer would like for this property to be rented is there something i should know. Such as, how much notice do i give the renter? Does it have to be in writing? From what i have read it looks like, if the lease agreement is up that there is nothing i need to really do. Please help.

If you haven’t renewed a lease with the tennant then you can ask them to move out. You should give them 30 days notice though.

What you should do is say no that my lease is up I would like a month to month lease with 30 days written notice and let them know you could stay there another 5 years but you do not want to be locked into a lease after the year is out.

It might be in your best interest to hire an attorney to handle this for you, especially if you’re thinking about evicting the tenants. Renter’s rights laws are ridiculously in favor of the tenant.

You need to send them a letter, preferably certified, telling them that their lease ends on _______ and that you will not be extending or renewing the lease. Please make arrangements to relocate on or before ________.
You really don’t have to give a reason, but realize that once the notice is mailed to them, they have a legally mandated amount of time to move. In some states, it’s tough enough to get them to move when they aren’t paying rent.

You do have other options, such as increasing the rent amount significantly.

Question–are you the tenant or the owner of the property?
If you are the tenant all you have to do is give the owner a thirty day notice that you will not be extending your lease when is expires on xx/xx/xxxx(give the date).
California — If you are the owner let them know that their lease will be up on xx/xx/xxxx(date), and that you will return their unused security deposit within twenty-one days after they have removed all of their personal items from the unit. Remind them that the security deposit CAN NOT be used to cover their rent for the last month. To be fair you can mail them a certificated letter sixty days in advance.
